Duplex board
Duplex is a layered board with a lighter top surface made for printing. It is the standard material for folding cartons: medicine boxes, food cartons, cosmetics and other retail packs where the outside must look right. It is specified by GSM, caliper and top-side shade.
Kraft liner
Kraft liner is a strong board used for the faces of corrugated board. It carries the compression load in shipping boxes. It is specified by GSM and burst factor, and often by ring crush for stacking.
Using them together
Many products use both: a printed duplex carton for the shelf, packed in a corrugated shipper made with kraft liner. Specify each for its own job instead of compromising one material for both.
